1. Phonetic Discrimination
The course aims at training student to be able to communicate
with standard Chinese Putonghua. In the class, teacher will help
correcting scientifically his pronunciation and intonation, and
compare the manner of articulation between the native language
and Chinese. In the procedure of teaching, student will get a
systematic training and start phonetic correcting practice from
the characters pronunciation till he can read correctly the passages;
after that he will learn to speak pure spoken daily-life Chinese.
2. Visual-Audio Speech
This is a comprehensive training for student, which is aiming
at fast reading, listening, thinking and expressing. The contents
could be TV News, Special Topic Telefilm, Documentary, TV Play,
and Extract of Movie, the scope of contents ranges from politics,
economy, history, culture, folk custom and hot spots of life etc.
Under the teacher’s instructions, student can improve his listening
comprehension and ability of communicating in a short period.
3. Movie Appreciation
and Explanation
Students can learn and understand
life speech, local dialect and slang, and feel the vivid and flexible
Chinese language. The teacher gives the necessary explanations
of each chapter and a vivid Chinese language could be expected
to learn. Students can learn more about social life in China,
cultural convention and folk customs, which will definitely
help them to understand China.
4. Proverbs and Allusions
Proverbs and allusions are one of the most important features
in Chinese language. Student capable of applying correctly these
words can not only make the expression more vivid and lively,
but also can show his ability of exercising Chinese language.
In the class teaching, teacher will give a detailed explanation
of each idiom of its origin, connotation and the proper way of
application.
5. The Bible Story
Considering that some of the students are Christians, the Chinese Center
provides the elective course ‘The Bible Story’, which is told
in Chinese. Students can understand and compare their native languages
with Chinese language since they are familiar with the story of
the original Bible, and grasp quickly the Chinese vocabulary,
grammar and expressions.
6. Business and Economics Chinese
This practical and professional course aims at assisting the student,
with an intermediate Chinese level, to be capable of working in
China. Student could learn business and economic terms, and with
the teacher’s inspiration, he could carry out case analyzing and
discussing.
7. Chinese for Law
The course is specially focused on the explanation of
law terms and conditions of China as well as specific expressions
patterns. The purpose is to make a professional language basis
for the students ready to learn the laws of China.

Courses
Courses are mainly related with training on listening, speaking,
reading and writing, the major ones include: Elements on Chinese
Phonetic Alphabet, Chinese Characters, Basic Chinese, Listening,
Spoken Chinese, Intensive Reading, Read-write, and Journal Reading.
The Chinese Center offers different kinds of courses according to each student's
Chinese standard.
