Study Designed for the elderly
Chinese Center for Foreigners (CCF), BTVU is going to offer the Chinese for the elderly courses in the autumn 2006 in order to meet the demand of the elderly people planning to learn Chinese. New students could register right now.
I. Teaching Features
(1) CCF, in consideration of the elderly people’s features, is going to offer just two Chinese courses in one semester, two hours study every day (15 minutes intervals in study). This special class will slow down the normal schedule to reduce the pressure form study.
(2) In the meantime of study, CCF will also provide the elderly with interest courses in the afternoon on Tuesday and Thursday for one and half hour, such as healthcare in traditional Chinese medicine, painting and calligraphy, Chinese custom etc. In addition, this class will also arrange out-going usually for the language practice, e.g. folk culture visit, Hutong (lane) tour, peasant home or geracomium visit, or Chinese cooking.

II. Class Information
(I) Date of Class
Autumn class: 2nd week in September, 18 weeks
Spring class: 2nd week in March, 18 weeks
(II) Type of Class
CCF will offer the beginner, elementary, intermediate and advanced class in each semester. 3 to 8 students in each class, and late-enrolled student could take the class at any time.
Standard of Charge:
Application: CNY400/person (nonrecurring charge)
Registration: CNY150/person (by semester)
Tuition: CNY6500/person (by semester)
Textbooks: charged by actual book fees
Visit and Practice: charged by actual traffic and accommodation fees
III. Teacher Qualifications
Professional teachers with rich experiences in both life and elderly-taught, with pure Mandarin pronunciation and sufficient patient.
IV. Enrollment Information
Any one in sixty to seventy years old, healthy conditions (Health Certificate required) are welcomed to register.

(I) Accommodation
Information for Single Room: air conditioner, refrigerator, TV, telephone, bath room (with bathtub), internet connection
Information for Double Room: air conditioner, refrigerator, TV, telephone, bath room (with shower), internet connection
Single room fee: CNY76/day: lump-sum payment
CNY9880/semester (130 days)
CNY80/day: monthly payment
Double room fee: CNY40/day/person
(II) Insurance
CCF will give all the students in elderly class the <Comprehensive Insurance Plan of Foreign Students> offered by PING AN Insurance Company of China. |
